Natchez- the Neighborhood Deer

Yep, the neighbors have a baby deer as a pet, at least for now. Apparently, they were driving back to Mandeville, and somewhere around Natchez they saw a mother deer and a baby deer. The mother deer was dead, so they rescued/took/adopted (however you want to put it) Natchez. Don't worry, they are moving her back to the woods soon. They may keep her since she's used to people now, but they are going to put her in a big area that they own.

Hannah has become fond of Natchez and this is a picture of her bottle feeding Natchez today. She really is cute. She licks you and plays with you. Today, she tried to eat Hannah' dress, which Hannah quickly put a stop to. We will be sad when Natchez has to move out to the country, but its been a good learning lesson for Hannah on wild animals vs. pets. Although I am not sure it is working because now she keeps talking about when we find a dead mommy dear that will bring us a baby pet deer- oops. Oh well, a learning lesson at that.

Hannah and Natchez

Insectarium

This weekend I took Hannah to the New Orleans Insectarium. I didn't tell her much about it at first as I wanted her to get through the door, but she did great. It was really crowded, so I didn't get too many pictures, but there are a couple from the Butterfly garden. Basically its a great big room that you walk into and it has butterfly's living freely. They are on the windows, the trees, the flowers and people from time to time. Here are some pictures from that room.

There is a butterfly in the bushes, promise.

Hannah's Picture of the Butterfly, she's pretty handy with a camera

Again, there is a butterfly there. Hannah just didn't want to get "too" close.
